Growing up in a developing country has shaped me as a person, as an artist, and has influenced me to produce a body of work dedicated to the people who make up the back bone of developing countries. Seeking to tell story through imagery, I came to the idea of representing the social, economic, and political issues through portraiture. The limited colour palette and choice of materials such as tar and collaged torn articles relate directly to the content being brought across. The portraits are personal to the individuals being depicted and yet symbolize the broader idea of a struggling population.
